Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions Society (TSWREIS) has been leaving no stone unturned in ensuring continuity of studies of its students amid the Covid 19 crisis. Teachers of TSWREIS have taken a big leap forward and initiated a novel program ‘Manavurike Managurukulam’ wherein teachers go to villages to personally meet students and supervise their studies. The main objectives of this path-breaking initiative are : i) reaching out to students in rural and remote areas; ii) clarification of doubts; iii) assessment of students’ reading, writing and comprehension skills; iv) imparting basic concepts; v) counsel the students and boost their morale. vi) conduct of classes by subject teachers to make sure that no student is left behind in studies amid the continued uncertainty over the prospect of reopening of schools in lockdown times. This program has been playing an indispensable role in bridging learning gap and digital deprivation and motivating and mentoring poor and underprivileged children to keep up with their studies, despite lack of resources like smart phones, internet connectivity and laptops. Teachers and staff of TSWREIS deserve deep appreciation for their yeoman service in reaching out to particularly those poor students who don’t have access to digital classes in the times of pandemic.
